FOLLOW-UP: Search for Mohammed Seedat enters third week

“Any information that could assist the police is welcome.”

Three weeks have passed since the kidnapping of Rynfield businessman Mohammed Seedat (42), with no new information being available regarding his whereabouts.

The owner of Rynfield Drapers & Outfitters was taken from Rynfield Value Mall in Pretoria Road shortly after 09:20 on July 23, following a business robbery.

It is alleged that six men entered the store along with Seedat, holding the security guard, the store manager and the staff at gunpoint.

One assailant went behind the counter to access the till, taking an undisclosed amount of money.
Seedat’s hands were tied behind his back, and he was forced into one of the getaway vehicles, described as a gunmetal grey Mercedes-Benz.

It was later confirmed as sporting false number plates.

“At this stage, we are unable to divulge further information; however, we can confirm that the investigation is active and the search for the victim is continuing,” said the source.

“We are appealing to anyone with possible information to come forward and assist us in bringing a beloved husband, father and community member home safe.”
