Yummy Bean’s Dowling thanks Benonians for their support

The event sold 310 cupcakes and the proceeds go to the Cupcakes of Hope Foundation for Cancer.

The Yummy Bean Cafè’s Sandor Dowling sent her gratitude to all those who contributed to the success of their Cupcakes of Hope initiative on Women’s Day (August 9).

The initiative, which started on July 9 and runs until November, sells cupcakes donated by local bakers on the ninth day of each month and all proceeds go to the Cupcakes of Hope Foundation for Cancer.

Each month is dedicated to a different form of cancer. Being women’s month, their women’s day event focused on cancers that affect women and sold over 300 cupcakes.

“We sold 310 cupcakes. It was an incredible morning with great support and enthusiasm for the cause. Yummy Bean Cafè and cupcakes of hope appreciate the support from our regulars and local Benoni community,” Dowling said.

She thanked local bakers, including the Culinary Loft and Creative Cakes by Michelle, as well as Mr and Miss Benoni finalists.

Rampage Modelling Agency’s Debbie Moore said the theme for this year’s pageant is charity and this gave the finalists an opportunity to do their bit for the community.

“Our main theme for this year’s pageant is charity. Today, the finalists all bagged and decorated cupcakes to donate and sell to raise money for cancer.

“This important because giving is the biggest blessing. The feeling that giving and helping towards a good cause is what life’s all about,” said Moore.

Dowling concluded, “We will be running with this amazing initiative again for the next three months continuing on September 9, October 9 and November 9, with each month representing a different cancer”.

Next month will be dedicated to childhood cancers.
