Benoni Child Welfare celebrates courage, strength
The Greater Benoni Child Welfare hosted its second-annual Women’s Day celebration, where survivors shared stories of courage and found inspiration.
The hall at the House of the Lord Church in Airfield was filled with laughter, floral prints, balloons and decorations on August 28.
Women from all walks of life gathered there for the Greater Benoni Child Welfare’s second annual Women’s Day celebration.
Inspired by the theme, Celebrating Courage and Strength, the event aimed to empower survivors and victims of GBV while treating them to a day of fun, activities and togetherness.
Among those in attendance were women from the Theodora Ndaba Victim Support Centre, the Benoni Child Welfare, the Manger Care Centre and Sekusile Ekhaya Labantwana.

Several speakers share personal stories of courage and survival, offering encouragement and inspiration.
Motivating the audience, Pat Coulentianos of Tuckers Attorneys reminded the women to be kind to one another and offer support rather than judgment. She urged them never to stop dreaming.
Guest speaker Gail Tlomatsana from ChildLine focused on spiritual wellness, reminding attendees that while scars are part of life, they can also be a source of strength and gratitude.

“Own your happiness and create a healthy financial space by not being dependent on someone. Learn to talk about what is bothering you rather than bottling up your feelings.”
She also stressed the importance of drawing up a budget, saving, investing and spoiling oneself, adding that every tear shed makes one stronger than before.
The support of Ital-Deli, Tuckers Attorneys, Mr Dunn and The Full Gospel Church in Airfield made the day possible.
