Operations will continue in an effort to stamp out crime.

Possession of drugs
Benoni Flying Squad (BFS) arrested five suspects on charges of being in possession of drugs with the intention to sell, between September 9 and 14.

The men, aged 22 to 40, were arrested in Ivory Park and Kempton Park.

Heroin, meth and Mandrax were confiscated.

SAPS Rapid Response Services (RRS)
From September 5 to 11, SAPS Rapid Response Services, including the Flying Squad, K9 Units and Highway Patrol, arrested 99 suspects across Gauteng.

The operation resulted in:
• 29 arrests for serious crimes including assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm, possession of suspected stolen property, contravention of the Immigration Act, attempted armed robbery, arson, attempted murder, kidnapping, tampering with essential infrastructure, possession of car breaking equipment, robbery, driving under the influence of alcohol, malicious damage to property, shoplifting and domestic violence.

• Recovery of 30 hijacked and stolen vehicles.
Seven arrests were made on charges of being in possession of these vehicles.

• Five suspects were arrested for being in possession of unlicensed firearms. Fourteen weapons were seized.

• 58 suspects were arrested for possession of drugs with the intent to sell.
Drugs recovered included heroin, dagga, meth, cocaine and Mandrax.
