Daveyton man arrested for assault

He was arrested shortly after the case was reported to the Daveyton SAPS.

A Daveyton man was arrested on September 30, at about 06:00, on charges of assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

According to Zweli Dlamini, EMPD spokesperson, the suspect allegedly entered the victim’s home, accusing her of visiting her mother’s home and consuming alcohol.

“In a fit of rage, he assaulted the victim before using a crutch to stab her several times,” he said.

“Throughout the incident the suspect allegedly threatened to burn the victim.”

Upon hearing the commotion, neighbours came to the victim’s rescue, putting an end to the altercation.

“The victim was taken to a nearby health care facility for medical care after which she laid a complaint of assault at the Daveyton Police Station,” said Dlamini.

“Through the swift action of EMPD Bronberg Precinct officers, the man was traced and arrested. He was detained at the police station and will be appearing in the Daveyton Magistrate’s Court soon.
