Dantè shines at championships
She clinched gold medals in kata, kon, tonfa and nunchaka and added a bronze in kumite.
Dantè Lucas grabbed four gold medals and a bronze during the Tenshinkan Karate national championships at the Brakpan Indoor Sports Centre on August 30.
The karateka clinched her golds in kata, kon, tonfa and nunchaka and added a bronze in kumite to cap off a memorable championship.
Charleigh Cloete also had a good tournament to end with a pair of golds in kata and kumite, while Bruce Cloete grabbed a trio of silvers in kata, kumite and team kata.

Carmen Griggs got two silvers in kata and kumite.
Chief instructor Shihan Catherine Venter said: “We had a good turnout from students and parents. I’m proud of all my students. Everyone who participated got a medal.”
Shihan Venter said they will conclude the year with the North Gauteng Championships on November 8. It will also be held in Brakpan.
