Police tighten up festive season safety at Cloverdene Shopping Centre

Police officials also interacted with centre management to determine what types of crimes or concerns they have observed around the premises.

Crystal Park police officers, joined by colleagues from neighbouring stations, conducted a walkabout at the Cloverdene Shopping Centre recently as part of their festive season safety campaign.

The operation aimed to increase police visibility and ensure that shoppers feel safe while visiting the centre during this busy period.

According to SAPS Ekurhuleni District communication officer Captain Nelda Sekgobela, members of the Social Crime Prevention Unit also carried out a community engagement initiative during the visit.

“Officers educated shoppers about several safety measures, including awareness around gender-based violence, the risks of online purchasing, the importance of keeping bank Pins confidential and the need to report any suspicious or criminal activity in the area,” she said.

Speaking to shoppers is one of the police officers, who educated residents about gender-based violence, the risks of online purchasing and other safety tips.

Police officials also interacted with centre management to determine what types of crimes or concerns they have observed around the premises.

The operation forms part of the ongoing effort by SAPS to curb crime and strengthen community safety partnerships throughout the festive season.
