Life The Glynnwood welcomes its only Christmas baby

Baby Tshimologo, a girl, was born at 09:15, weighing 3.264kg.

Life The Glynnwood Hospital welcomed one newborn on Christmas Day, making baby Tshimologo the hospital’s only Christmas baby this year.

Festive ribbons and decorations surrounded her cot in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit as staff celebrated the special arrival on December 25.

Baby Tshimologo was born at 09:15, weighing 3.264kg.

First-time mother Itumeleng Chego, who is from Springs, said she was overjoyed to welcome her daughter on such an extraordinary day, as the birth came as a surprise.

“We were expecting her around December 27 to 29. I was shocked when my water broke on December 24 at around 03:00, and we then came to the hospital at about 11:00,” she said.

She added that her family is eagerly waiting to see the newborn and cannot wait to welcome baby Tshimologo home.

First-time mother and Springs resident, Itumeleng Chego, gave birth to her daughter on Christmas Day, December 25.

According to Gauteng Health statistics, a total of 428 babies – 206 boys and 222 girls – were born on Christmas Day between 00:00 and 23:59 at academic, tertiary, regional and district hospitals, as well as community healthcare centres.
