Two suspected illegal miners found dead at N12 informal settlement

The bodies of two men believed to be illegal miners were discovered at the N12 informal settlement last week.

The men, aged 25 and 30, were reportedly found with gunshot wounds and their hands tied.

Crystal Park SAPS spokesperson Sergeant Lerato Mopeli said the families of the two men, who are from Lesotho, came to the police station on December 23 to identify and claim the bodies.

Police have opened an inquest docket to determine the exact cause of death, and investigations are ongoing.
