From January 23 to February 1, the Benoni Flying Squad (BFS) and SAPS Police Emergency Services (PES) arrested 122 suspects:
Possession of drugs
Five were arrested for possession of drugs with the intent to sell. Arrests were made in Kempton Park and Brakpan. Meth, Mandrax and heroin were recovered.
Vehicles recovered
• A white Audi A3 was recovered in Ivory Park; it was reported as hijacked in Rabie Ridge.
• A white Big Boy motorcycle was recovered in Thembisa; it was reported as stolen in Linden.
PES
From January 23 to 29, the Police Emergency Services (PES), including the Flying Squad, K9 Units, and Highway Patrol, arrested 117 suspects across Gauteng.
Gauteng:
The operation resulted in:
• 49 arrests for serious crimes including assault with the intent on causing grievous bodily harm, possession of suspected stolen property, robbery, pointing of a firearm, kidnapping, extortion, murder, possession of gold bearing material, driving under the influence of alcohol, illegal mining, malicious damage to property, theft, housebreaking, fraud, armed robbery and contravention of the immigration act.
• Recovery of 50 hijacked and stolen vehicles.
Ten arrests were made for possession of these vehicles.
• Three suspects were arrested for being in possession of unlicensed firearms. Seven weapons were seized
• 55 suspects were arrested for possession of drugs with the intent to sell.
Drugs recovered included heroin, dagga, meth, cocaine and Mandrax.
