From April 24 to May 2, the Benoni Flying Squad (BFS) and Police Emergency Services (PES) arrested 59 suspects.

Possession of stolen vehicle

• A 37-year-old man was arrested in Kempton Park after he was found in possession of a white Suzuki Espresso, allegedly belonging to a rental company.
The suspect removed the vehicle’s tracking device in an attempt to avoid returning it to the company.

• A white Suzuki Ertiga, which was reported as hijacked in Daveyton, was recovered in an open field at the Lindelani informal settlement.

Police Emergency Services (PES)

From April 24 to 29, the Police Emergency Services (PES), including the Flying Squad, K9 Units, and Highway Patrol, arrested 56 suspects across Gauteng.

The operation resulted in:
• 20 arrests for serious crimes, including assault common with the intent to cause serious bodily harm, possession of suspected stolen property, house burglary, contravention of a protection order, theft, tampering with essential infrastructure and contravention of the immigration act.

• Recovery of 28 hijacked and stolen vehicles.
Five arrests were made on charges of being in possession of these vehicles.

• Five suspects were arrested for being in possession of unlicensed firearms. Seven weapons were seized

• 26 suspects were arrested for possession of drugs with the intent to sell.
Drugs recovered included heroin, dagga, meth, cocaine and Mandrax.
