EMPD crime blitz

By-law enforcement operations are set to continue in an effort to combat illegal activities.

As part of its ongoing by-law enforcement operations, the EMPD Bronberg Precinct Officers and representatives of the CoE City Planning and Social Development departments conducted a joint operation on July 3.

Unauthorised land use

Acting on information, teams swooped on a property in Evans Road, Benoni AH.
Investigations revealed that the property owner was illegally renting 15 rooms without the required permits, charging a monthly fee of R3500 per room.

The owner was served with a 28-day notice to cease operations; failure to comply will result in penalties being added to his municipal account.

Trading without a permit

Blankets, duvets and pillows were confiscated from a trader who was illegally operating at the corner of Elm and Glen Norton Road, Norton Home Estates.

This is the fourth violation in three years, with the trader ignoring previous compliance notices to apply for a valid permit.

Information supplied by EMPD spokesperson Chief Superintendent Lieutenant Colonel Kelebogile Thepa.
