Women urged to support each other

'women to report any acts of violent behaviour towards them and should leave if they notice any signs of abusive behaviour in their relationships.'

The South African National Civil Organisation (SANCO) Wattville branch hosted a Women’s Month celebration at OR Tambo Precinct on August 20.

According to SANCO member Thando Mvimbi, the event was held to encourage women to work together to fight against the socio-economic challenges they face daily.

Furthermore, Mvimbi added that they encouraged women to join forces to fight against GBV, women and child abuse and to play an active role in the lives of young people to alleviate drug abuse and teenage pregnancy, which are prevalent in the community.

Acclaimed actor, director and dramatist Sello Maake kaNcube was the keynote speaker at the event. He advised women to support each other at all times.

The former Generations and Scandal actor urged women to report any acts of violent behaviour towards them and to leave if they notice any signs of abusive behaviour in their relationships.
