Library open following revamp

The facility is open for business as usual

Following its closure nearly four-months ago to undergo an extensive R3.6m upgrade, the Benoni Library is open to the public.

According to Zweli Dlamini, spokesperson for the Ekurhuleni metro, the facility was closed in order for new carpeting and tiling to be laid as well as complete renovations to be undertaken in the public restrooms.

The newly renovated restrooms.

“Work was also done on the roof, in line with occupational health as safety regulations,” he said.

“The library staff have been hard at work restacking books in the various departments and are pleased to welcome regular visitors to the facility.”

Avid readers are urged to visit the library on September 13, to join in on various Literacy Week activities which will be on offer.
