Hefty sentence for murder suspects

Putfontein SAPS station commander, Lt Col Wellington Mathiane applauded Magwaza for securing a conviction.

The Benoni Regional Court recently sentenced Dantile Monde (37) and Sello Modise (42) to 30 years each in prison for a murder they committed in 2019.

According to Putfontein SAPS spokesperson Sergeant Raider Ubisi, the police were made aware of a man lying on the street with head injuries in Mayfield, Daveyton.

“A case of assault GBH was registered at the Putfontein SAPS and the victim was transported to hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. The docket then changed to murder,” said Ubisi.

The case was investigated by Detective Sergeant Ngoako Magwaza and two suspects were arrested.

The Benoni Regional Court found Monde and Modise guilty on August 30 and the sentence was handed down on October 11.
They were also declared unfit to possess a firearm.
