Community must help SAPS to fight crime

"Without the cooperation of community members, there is no way we will win this fight against crime."

The Daveyton Police Station is appealing to the community to help them in fighting crime.

This comes after the station experienced a rise in cases reported during the last quarter of the 2022/23 financial year.

Some cases which showed a spike include hijacking, truck hijacking, and house and business robberies.

According to the Daveyton SAPS acting station commander, Lieutenant Colonel Thokozile Ndou, during these robberies victims are in their cars when they are hijacked by three to four men.

“Regarding house robberies, suspects disguise themselves as patrollers, wearing reflector jackets. These suspects are also in groups.

“We are appealing to residents of Daveyton and surrounding areas to assist us with information they might have about the suspects.

“Without the cooperation of the community, there is no way we will win this fight against crime. Residents can remain anonymous when calling the SAPS hotline to report crime.”

Ndou added they are currently establishing patrollers within the station’s four sectors to combat crime.

To report criminal activities, contact the Daveyton SAPS at 011 845 9800 or Crime Stop at 08600 10111.
