Actonville youth give back to the community

Residents received donations in the form of food, clothes and blankets.

Striving to make a difference in their community, a group of young people from Actonville rallied together on June 24 to host the Show and Shine charity event.

Young and old from the area flocked to the Actonville Car Park to receive donations in the form of food, clothes and blankets.

Children and adults queued in snaking lines to receive free stylish haircuts from barbers, Maverick Minnie, Duchandre Ferguson and Matthew Ndlovu.

According to one of the organisers, Duwayne Hector, the event aimed to reach out to the needy.

“Through the donations that we received from generous members of the community, we wanted to show our beneficiaries that we are there for them and they shouldn’t give up,” said Hector.

Hector thanked Captain Shaun Naidoo and Warrant Officer Tebogo Maleka from the Actonville SAPS, Crime Prevention Wardens and CPF members who assisted with policing during the event.

Meanwhile, car enthusiasts showed up to impress in their thrilling Sports and classic cars.

Local artists also showed off their talents as they provided live entertainment.
