Church teaches kids about pitfalls of substance, drug abuse

NPO brings hope to the community of Daveyton

In celebration of Youth Day, a local group, School in Church, marched through the streets of Chief Luthuli Park to raise awareness about drug and alcohol abuse.

After the march, they went to Mountain of Deliverance Family Church, where the youth learnt about the June 16, 1976, Soweto uprising.

The organisation’s founder, Ntombi Bineka, said the event aimed to motivate young people to better themselves by overcoming the youth’s challenges.

Nkanyiso Msibi and Ntokozo Mahlangu attended the School In Church event at Chief Luthuli Park on June 16.

Young professionals shared their life stories about how they overcame their circumstances.

Members from the Banking Association of South Africa told the youth that by using what little they had, they would ensure a better future for themselves.

The attendees also learnt how to start saving to start their own businesses.

Bonniswa Majola listened attentively to the speakers during the School In Church event at Chief Luthuli Park on June 16.
