Flying squad arrest alleged rapist
The unit continue with their efforts to combat crime.
Members of the Benoni Flying Squad (BFS) flexed their muscles, bringing four suspects to book in just two days.
Rape suspect
BFS members arrested an alleged rapist in Edenvale, on June 26.
“Officers were patrolling the area when they were stopped by a member of the public, stating that they had spotted a man allegedly wanted in connection with a rape that was committed in March,” said Warrant Officer Grant Giblin, BFS spokesperson.
“The suspect was positively identified by the victim and remanded in police custody.”
Assault
A man was arrested in Emoyeni Section, Thembisa on charges of assault.
Recovery of firearms
On June 27 at 10:30, following up on information from Crime Intelligence, Sergeant Jaco Powell and Constable Juan-Mare Eksteen along with members of the Brakpan Trio Task Team conducted a blitz at a plot on Main Reef Road, Brakpan, opposite the infamous ‘Plastic City.’
“The information related to a wanted suspect, who is alleged to reside at the address,” said Giblin.
“Upon arrival the suspect could not be found, but a search of the premises led to the discovery of an AK47 rifle, with a magazine containing 29 rounds of live ammunition as well as a 5.56 calibre hunting rifle, a magazine and 20 live rounds of ammunition.
“Two suspects were arrested on the scene and charged for being in possession of unlicensed firearms.”

Vehicles recovered
A white Toyota Quantum was recovered on Pretoria Road, Crystal Park. It was allegedly brought through a fraudulent transaction in Midrand.
A white Isuzu bakkie was found in Entshonalanga Section, Thembisa. It was reported as hijacked in Thembisa South.
