Members of the EMPD Bronberg Precinct successfully brought four suspects to book on two separate charges on July 25.
Attempted murder
At 17:00, officers responded to a call of a 38-year-old man that had been stabbed at a tavern in Daveyton.
“According to witness information, the suspect, a 56-yer-old man, and the victim had a disagreement regarding a chair as well as the amount of alcohol the victim was buying,” said Lieutenant Colonel Kelebogile Thepa, EMPD spokesperson.
“The suspect stabbed the victim multiple times before fleeing the scene.”

Officers traced the suspect to a home in Mosoma Street as he attempted to evade arrest.
The victim was taken to hospital for treatment.
Charges of assault, with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm and attempted murder have been brought against the suspect.
He will be appearing in the Daveyton Magistrate’s Court soon.
Possession of unlicensed firearms
With the assistance of the SAPS and other law enforcement officers, EMPD members arrested three men on charges of being in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
“The suspects have been liked to a spate of armed robberies throughout Etwatwa, targeting individuals as well as spaza shops,” said Thepa.

“The suspects were traced to Extension 14, Daveyton. Following a thorough search they were found in possession of three unlicensed firearms, two of which had defaced serial numbers, while the third’s was still intact, 20 live rounds of ammunition were also found.”
The suspects were taken to the Daveyton Police Station and will be appearing in court soon.
Conviction
On July 26, the Bronberg Precinct, welcomed a verdict passed by the Benoni Magistrates Court sentencing of a 26-year-old Nigerian national on charges of being in possession of suspected stolen goods.
“The 29-year-old was found in possession of stolen vehicle parts, with an estimated value of R15 000, on February 3 at the SAPS Van Ryn Deep vehicle pound,” said Thepa.
“Upon his release in 2025, he will be deported back to his country of origin.”
