The police launched a manhunt for armed robbers who bombed an ATM outside a supermarket on Gideon Nkomo Drive, Etwatwa, on August 18.
According to the SAPS district communications officer, Captain Neldah Sekgobela, two armed men ran into a nearby veld when officers approached the crime scene.
“While fleeing, the suspects fired shots at the police, who then returned fire. They found two pistol cartridges at the scene, and an undisclosed sum of money was stolen.”
The SAPS opened a case of ATM bombing and attempted murder.
