Driver airlifted, passenger killed in N12 crash near Atlas Road

There were no other vehicles involved in the accident.

The passenger in a white BMW hatchback, a man in his 30s, died and the driver, a man in his 20s, was airlifted to hospital after the car crashed through the barricade near the Atlas Road offramp on the N12 west.

The accident happened at around 01:40 this morning (July 6), according to EMPD Media Liaison Officer Ann Makgato.

“The vehicle was travelling along the N12 west, the driver lost control and collided with the barricade and the car overturned,” she said.

The City Times is gathering further information and will reach out to the family in due course.
