LETTER: We feel safe at Homestead Dam
The City Times welcomes Letters to the Editor in our inbox at benonicitytimes@caxton.co.za.
Barbara Wentworth writes:
I read your recent article “Residents no longer feel safe at Homestead Dam”.
I want to say that my husband, myself and a friend walk at the dam once a week on a Wednesday.
We have never seen any problem there and have remarked that the “grafitti” on the toilet wall is done by a real artist.
There is no evidence of crime, pollution or people living there or washing their clothes.
I am a friend of a person involved in the “church” gathering on a Sunday and have only heard positive reports.

I have also done a couple of parkruns at the dam and have seen nothing unpleasant or felt threatened or unsafe.
I may not be aware of everything there but am just giving my feedback.
We met someone from Homestead Helpers one week and our friend has subsequently supported that organisation financially.
They are doing a great job.
We need to be a compassionate community.
