Peter Hawthorne writes by email:
The second story you printed on this week’s front page about the dogs and the new born baby was truly, horrifically, gruesome: it was an unconscionable act, an act of cynicism and disregard for human life or, alternatively, an act of extreme desperation.
It is a sad comment on the society in which we live, but we rely on the press to bring these things to our attention.
However, I think it was grossly insensitive to print this story on the front page, particularly as the content was so graphic; an example I’m afraid of poor editorial judgement.
I was nauseated, in fact.
At Caxton, we employ humans to generate daily fresh news, not AI intervention. Happy reading!
