LETTER: Citizens are at risk as wheels come off policing

"Hopeless politicians, coupled to poorly trained and ill equipped police, are placing the lives of innocent citizens at risk."

Peter Bachtis writes:

The police are warning us that there is an escalation of criminality along the N12.

What are they doing about it?

Clearly, they are outnumbered and outgunned, unable to enforce law and order.

I won’t report crime

What this amounts to is that we the law abiding citizens, must do whatever it takes to protect ourselves from this criminal scourge.

In essence the cops have given us notice that they are unable to do the work they have been mandated to do.

This is a reflection on the Minister of Police, who has been disabled and rendered useless.

Hopeless politicians, coupled to poorly trained and ill equipped police, are placing the lives of innocent citizens at risk.

We can no longer sit back and allow ourselves to become victims, the alternative should not be contemplated in a civilised country, but then we do live in South Africa that is now a sorry excuse for a country.
