Elegant Ebotse plays home to the BCT Charity Golf Day

Get your clubs out and support the BCT Golf Day.

I recently had the fantastic opportunity to experience a “mini-tour” of the excellent facilities at the beautiful Ebotse Golf and Country Estate and, my oh my, is it impressive.

With the Benoni City Times Charity Golf Day coming up on August 29, I met up with Peet de Wet, Ebotse Links CEO, and Tertius Marais, club operations manager, to gain first-hand experience of what participants on this day can expect at the links.

Ebotse is one of the few golf courses in the area designed in the old Scottish “links” style, which offers golfers smaller pot bunkers, no trees and a lot of run on the fairways, among other benefits.

The Mark Hayes and Peter Matkovich-designed course is an inland gem that offers Gauteng golfers something worlds apart from other offerings in the province.

The course has been rated 37th by Golf Digest South Africa (the highest ranking in the region) and there is little wonder why it is so highly regarded.

There are unique facilities aplenty, like the floating driving range (the only aqua-range in South Africa) or the 3D studio, where swing analysis technology can be used to assess your game.

Master club fitter Charles Rich is also nearby and will customise your club’s fitting to ensure that no errors creep into your swing as a result of poor fitting.

According to de Wet, a golfing estate usually reaches its maturity at between 12 and 15 years and Ebotse (which is six years old) is way ahead of schedule in terms of development and building activity.

Its latest penthouse development, “The Links”, on the 12th hole, is one of the ongoing developments that is set to add further class and beauty to the estate.

There is just simply way too much on offer at Ebotse to put into writing, so, if you haven’t played a round on the course or experienced its facilities firsthand, then get out your clubs and join the Benoni City Times as we strive to raise much needed funds for local charities Oliver’s House and Cat Village.

The golf day promises to provide networking opportunities, a fantastic round of golf, laughs galore and great hospitality.
