Three players from Benoni Rugby Club recently represented the Valke during the Platteland Series, hosted by the Valke, in Kempton Park.

“We are very proud to have players of this calibre in our club and we congratulate them and thank them for their continued commitment to the club,” said Steve Myburgh, public relations officer for Benoni Rugby Club.

The three who played for the Valke are Quin van der Nest, Joshua de Necker and Takkies van Staden.

Van der Nest is an old stalwart of the club, who has played numerous games for Benoni over the years.

He represented the Valke’s merit team in 2011 and plays scrum half for Benoni.

De Necker joined the club in 2012 and is already one of its senior players.

He joined Benoni from Centurion Rugby Club last year and is a regular first team player, who plays on the wing.

Van Staden is a young player who has a great future ahead of him.

He went to school at Hoërskool Hans Moore and started his senior club rugby career this year, in the u-21 side, but was soon called up to the senior side.

He plays in the midfield, at centre, for the senior team, is a very strong defender and is also great on attack.
