BNFC hand out six of the best

Even though Benoni Northerns Football Club’s (BNFC) first XI scored six goals on Saturday, April 2, coach Jannie van den Berg believes his team can still perform better.

Despite being on the front end of a 6-1 win over Union Football Club away from home in Turffontein, the coach wasn’t entirely thrilled with his team’s second-half display, particularly after they put five past the Union goalkeeper in the first 45 minutes.

“I wouldn’t say that we played exceptionally well. The boys just stuck to our tactics and stayed disciplined to achieve this result,” van den Berg said.

“Union stuck to their attacking tactics and we pounced by capitalising on the counter.

“Our minds went to rest in the second half and we could really have scored more,” he added.

Regular goal-getter Brogan Shrimpton scored four times while Tshatsho “China” Molapo and 16-year-old right midfielder Kwanda Sokuto added their names to the score sheet.
