Making waves at Oceans
Robyn Kaltenbrunn (19) made good on her promise of becoming the first junior runner home at the 2016 Old Mutual Two Oceans Half-Marathon, in Cape Town, over the Easter weekend.
The former Benoni High School pupil, running in the colours of the KPMG Running Club, cruised to the finish in an hour and 31 minutes, making her the 30th woman to cross the line.
Speaking to the City Times the gifted runner said that taking part in the famous event was “incredible”.
“The vibe was amazing and the route was so beautiful,” she added.
“I was incredibly blessed to have been a part of such an amazing race.”
Asked what was going through her mind during the run, Kaltenbrunn said: “I just tried to stay relaxed and enjoy myself, because I was fit and ready for it.
“I thought I would just soak up what Cape Town had to offer.”
The Northmead resident now turns her attention to the upcoming Spar women’s races and cross-country races.
