Old Bens make it two consecutive victories
After breaking a long streak without victory in the ELFA Super League with arguably their biggest win of the season against powerhouse Randburg (2-1) on Saturday, July 30 Old Bens Football Club’s first XI are back in the competitive mix.

The team backed up last weekend’s surprising away result against Randburg with victory a week later (Saturday, August 6) at Currin Park against a tricky proposition in the form of Robertsham.
Again it was the silky forward Lesiba Modau who claimed all the plaudits.
He has been in superb goal-scoring form this campaign and continued his hot streak in Saturday’s encounter with another brace of strikes.
Modau opened the scoring with a volley over the opposition goalkeeper’s head in the first half before Robertsham equalised just before the halftime whistle.
He doubled his tally early into the second stanza with an almost carbon copy of his first goal.
Nicholas Simelane then rounded off a well-placed ball across the box from Percy Visagie to give Old Bens a two-goal cushion.
Robertsham would, in the 93rd minute, bag their second after being awarded a penalty kick.
The match would end with a 3-2 score line.
Coach Raymond Cloete was naturally delighted with a second successive win.
“We expected a hard game and that’s what we got.
“We fought hard and played the better football.
“The win keeps us competing in the top half of the league table.”
