Wednesday win, Saturday draw for BNFC

The games have been coming thick and fast for coach Jannie van den Berg and his Benoni Northerns Football Club (BNFC) first XI in the ELFA Super League.

Impressing with a 5-0 victory over Edenvale at Northern Areas on the Election Day public holiday on Wednesday, August 3 the team did not quite have the same joy in front of goal on Saturday, August 6 when they travelled to Delville to play Germiston City Football Club.

A match that ended as a goalless stalemate.

According to the BNFC coach Germiston’s defensive structures were difficult to break down and it was just one of those games where both sides blew hot and cold.

“Germiston’s defence shut up shop and were big spoilers of any attacks.

“Although there is not much to write home about the weekend game we are happy with the point away from home,” said van den Berg.
