Local fighters compete in Pretoria

The dojo performed well in Pretoria.

The United Martial Arts International Benoni team participated in the annual National Development Championship in Pretoria recently.The various codes of fighting at the championship were kick-light and light-continuous.

According to shihan Aslam Mahomed, chief instructor of the United Martial Arts Dojo Benoni and national development officer for the South African Kickboxing Association, the local students excelled at the championship.

“The aim of these championships is to grow the sport of kickboxing and elevate the standards of our fighters in South Africa,” he said.

He thanked instructors senseis Jaun Naudé, Jackie Naudé, Ashraf Mia and shihan Shabnum Mia for taking the time out to prepare the fighters.

“Our team coaches, Muhammed Cajee and Mohamed Shamir Hassen, also did a fantastic job.”

Mahomed added that he is pleased with the development of kickboxing in South Africa.
