Best performance to date in the States for Slade Smith

His best results to date in the USA.

Rynfield’s Slade Smith (17) raced for the sixth year running in the Mini O’s Thor Winter Olympics, the largest amateur motocross race event, in November this year in Gainesville, Florida, USA, and had phenomenal results.

Smith stayed in the States for two months prior to the event to train, practice and get ready for the week’s racing.

With approximately 2 700 entries for all the classes, it takes a week to get through all the racing, kicking-off on November 18 with supercross practice.

Smith raced in the Schoolboy 1 and 125cc classes on the same bike where there were 78 and 84 entries in each class respectively.

In Smith’s motocross heat races, he managed a second place in the one, and, after a first turn crash where he was taken out from behind and was dead last, he managed to catch up to fourth place with an inspired ride to come through and pass 38 riders in just six laps.

In his second and final heats, he managed two third places to give him a third and fourth overall for the event in his respective classes, his best all-around performance to date at the Mini O’s.
