Gutsy showing by the Northerns in the Comrades Marathon
The 2019 Comrades Marathon up-run saw five members of BNAC awarded their Green Number, four gained Double Green, 28 nailed down back-to-back medals and 19 novices completed their first attempt at the gruelling ultra-marathon.
The dust has settled, the aching bodies have recovered – for some anyway — and Benoni Northerns Athletic Club (BNAC) has taken stock of their overall performance at last week’s Comrades Marathon.
Of the 155 BNAC runners who lined up at the start in Durban, 134 finished, with a healthy medal spread – one silver, 17 Bill Rowan, 29 Robert Mtshali (finished in 9-10 hours), 39 bronze and 48 Vic Clapham medal-winners.
