Impressive Comrades return for Northerns

Of the 155 BNAC runners who lined up at the start in Durban, 134 finished, with a healthy medal spread – one silver, 17 Bill Rowan, 29 Robert Mtshali (finished in 9-10 hours), 39 bronze and 48 Vic Clapham medal-winners.

The dust has settled, the aching bodies have recovered – for some anyway — and Benoni Northerns Athletic Club (BNAC) has taken stock of their overall performance at last week’s Comrades Marathon.

The first man in the famous ‘cheese and tomato’ colours to cross the finish line was Zwelakhe Mkorwana (7:24:14).

Kirsty Roux was the first woman home in 8:54:02 and the 16th member to finish overall.
