Rowlin Glow Run cancelled ‘Running’ a little late?

Benoni Northerns hearts are sore after the announcement of yet another sporting event, they hold close to their hearts, has been cancelled.

Jan Jordaan, Rowlin Glow Run Race organiser from Benoni Northerns Athletics Club, said is with great sadness the club has announced this year’s popular night race has been cancelled, due to Covid-19 restrictions.

Rowlin National Brokers and Benoni Northern’s have been in contact with the CGA (Central Gauteng Athletics) and have taken to this decision to protect the health and safety of all concerned and rather postpone the event until next year, Jordaan explained.

Further details will be announced next year, once the organisers have further clarity.

“We are so disappointed that we had to cancel the race,” explained Jordaan.

“The Rowlin Glow Run has become a tradition in Benoni over the last few years, but, unfortunately, CGA cannot yet give us the go ahead at this stage.

“Organising the race is normally done over a period of three months and with seven weeks left, and with the uncertainty of whether or not we will get the go ahead from CGA, we decided that it would be better to cancel it in advance.

“We have to do the right thing and make sure we look after the interest and health of the runners and spectators.

“We hope to see you all next year as we again light up the streets of Benoni and we would like to take this opportunity in wishing participants and their loved ones health, peace and love.

“Enjoy the quality time with your dearest and let’s hold hands in believing that this too shall pass.

“Benoni Northers and Rowlin National are disappointed to have to cancel the event, but next year we will be back with a bang!” concluded Jordaan.
