Northerns captain Sohail Ebrahim won the toss and chose to bat first on a tacky wicket, with overcast conditions favouring the bowling side.

Northerns amassed 138 runs in their allotted 25 overs, while Old Ben’s scored 122 runs in return and fell short by an agonising 16 runs.

Old Ben’s and Northern’s u-12 team members were so excited to finally be back on the field. Photos: Received.

Awards were handed to the best performers of the day:

• Batting: Matthew Vinning (Northerns) 58 runs.

• Bowling: Luke Stolle (Northerns) 2/15 in five overs.

• All-rounder: Stephan Kruger (Old Bens) 19* runs and 2/12.

Winning coach Suleiman Ebrahim said: “A fun day was had by all the boys. We hope to host Old Ben’s next summer.”
