A good medal haul for club at inter-club tournament

The club won a total of 14 gold medals, nine silvers and seven bronze medals.

The Benoni JKA men’s kata team won the open team kata event at an inter-club tournament in Heidelberg on November 5.

The team, made up of Brandon Prince, Gideon van Vollenstee and Kelvin Anderson, put on a great team performance with lots of chemistry between them and was placed first.

On the individual events, Gideon won the men’s brown belt kata while Kelvin and Brandon were first and second respectively in the men’s brown belt kumite section.

Overall, the club entered 21 students into the tournament. They returned home with 14 gold medals, nine silvers and seven bronze medals.
