From October 24 to 27 @thePark, Emperors Palace will be transformed into a space like no other as the first of its kind, A Festa Portuguesa is set to deliver a cultural Portuguese extravaganza.

Think open-air markets, an array of food and traditional ingredients, olives, wine, live music, kids entertainment, fado and rancho sessions, beauty pageants, dance acts and its very own Brazilian-styled carnival, and you’ll only be skimming the surface of possibility come this October.

Portugal is a country rich in history and tradition, its influence extending as far south of the Mediterranean as Mozambique and Angola, and all the way into South Africa.

From great restaurants, wonderful hospitality and a shared love of football, fun and entertainment are synonymous with all things Portuguese.

Add beer, port and a general lust for life, and A Festa Portuguesa looks set to make even more fans out of locals curious and hungry to explore the potential of what this prosperous nation has to offer.

Linked to the inaugural festival is the South African — Portuguese Business Tradesummit 2013 that will be taking place within the bigger bustling and unique four-day Portuguese experience.

The international trade show will connect people, companies to the European market that offers so much, as yet, untapped possibility for investors, businesses and entrepreneurs of all shapes and sizes.

With four days of exhibition opportunities, leads and rich culture, relationships will be forged while enjoying the overall authenticity of this genuine Portuguese event.

Show organiser Paula Fernandes’ dream to bring an authentic cultural experience to South Africa in the form of A Festa Portuguesa is finally a reality for her, and one she and her skilled and dedicated team intends turning into an annual event filled with many happy returns.

From food markets to fine dining and a water world for the kids, patrons can pace themselves comfortable in the knowledge that they get four full days to indulge all of their senses.

With more exciting announcements still to be made over the coming weeks, A Festa Portuguesa is an exciting and original inclusion on the local cultural and exhibition calendar, and one that looks set to deliver world-famous liberality in style.

On Thursday and Friday October 24 and 25 gates open at noon until midnight, on Saturday and Sunday October 26 and October 27 from 9am to midnight.
