Woohoo, we won!
My colleague Tanya Bester wrote: Last night I had the privilege of attending the South Africa versus Spain friendly, which was my first live soccer match experience, with my friend and colleague and some of his friends.
Even though I almost got trampled over by crowds and tripped over uneven ground in the parade back to the parking area, I got to get up and say: “Woohoo, we won!”.
Bafana-Bafana claimed victory over World Cup champions, Spain, with a tense 1-0.
I love soccer, but my favourite part of this whole experience was when I saw people from different races, sexes, ages and cultures jumping together as Bafana did us proud.
The spirit was great, the anticipation even more heart-racing than on TV and the live soccer spectacular!
I definitely want to have this experience repeated.
It was a magical moment when Bernard Parker scored our winning goal and I am convinced that Bafana-Bafana is excelling into a world-class team.
Now we can continue about our day with smiles on our faces and let the remaining ring of vuvuzela sounds gradually wear off.
I hope South Africans can unite like this without having a soccer field in front of us some day.TB
