Daveyton resident one step closer to America
Daveyton resident Leonard Sitoe (13) is one step closer to winning the Lions International Peace Poster Contest, which is organised by Lions Clubs International.
Leonard, who entered through the John Wesley Centre, was notified on November 16 that his poster will progress to the next level of the contest, after he won the multiple-district level.
His entry will now be judged alongside other winners from around the world.
Winning the international level would earn Leonard US$5 000 in prize money and a trip to the United States of America, where he would have the opportunity to address the United Nations.
Leonard said he feels good having won the multiple-district level and he is confident that he will win the international level.
He said it was not easy to design his poster with the theme “Our World, Our Future” in mind.
If he wins the international level, he will have gone up against over 350 000 children from over 70 countries.
