Teenager (15) airlifted to hospital after accident
A teenager was airlifted to hospital following a motor vehicle accident on Pretoria Road yesterday afternoon, April 22.
The 15-year-old patient was a passenger in a vehicle that collided with a tree at around 4pm.
”Immediately, ER24 paramedics assessed the young man and found that he had suffered multiple broken bones and was in a serious condition,” said ER24 JHB East spokesperson Glen Orritt.
”Paramedics, along with local fire and rescue teams, worked to get the man out of the vehicle and while doing so, a medical helicopter was called.”
”A short while later the teenager was freed from the vehicle and taken to the awaiting helicopter where he was airlifted to a Johannesburg hospital.
The driver of the vehicle, an 18-year-old man, suffered minor injuries, and was transported to hospital by ambulance.
Local authorities were on scene to investigate the incident further. Orritt thanked the Benoni CPF, Life the Glynnwood Hospital paramedics and other services for their assistance on scene.
