Four injured after two cars crash into poles
Four people were injured in two separate accidents when the vehicles they were travelling in collided with street poles last night (November 7).
The first accident involved a light motor vehicle on Main Reef Road, shortly before 6pm.
“Paramedics arrived on scene and found that a light motor vehicle had collided with a street lamp pole causing the vehicle to wrap around it,” said ER24 JHB East spokesperson Glen Orritt.
“Paramedics found the two passengers walking on scene – they both suffered minor injuries and were transported to a nearby hospital by ambulance.”
The driver of the car, a man in his 20s, was still inside the vehicle and it took fire services just under an hour using the Jaws of Life and other rescue equipment to free the trapped man.
The victim was immediately transported to Tambo Memorial Hospital by ER24.
In a separate incident, a car also collided with a street pole just after 8pm, on Main Road, Farrarmere.
When paramedics arrived on scene the driver of the vehicle, a man in his 20s, was still behind the wheel of the car with moderate injuries.
He was stabilised on scene and transported to the Life the Glynnwood Hospital for further care.
Orritt thanked the Benoni CPF, fire services and Life the Glynnwood Hospital paramedics for their assistance on the night.
