The founder of the pageant, Litshani Tshuma, said the winner of the event is someone who inspires and who is involved in her community.
She said the winning beauty should also be a positive role model.
“We have a hashtag to enforce this idea, #positiverolemodel,” she said.
She explained that the Miss Inspire SA is not a regular pageant as it works in collaboration with the etiquette agency, The Elegant Touch, to teach contestants about the importance of self-esteem and personal growth.
Owner Charlotte Youens said the contestants arrived two days prior to the event to attend personal growth seminars.
“When asked what they would change about themselves, almost all of the girls spoke about their physical appearance,” said Youens.
She explained that this was precisely what they aimed to challenge and wanted the young women to understand that character and self-worth were more important.
Thirteen contestants competed for the title as the Miss Inspire SA queen of 2018.
The winner of the Queen category for 2018 was Ayanda Masuku from Mpumalanga.
The teen winner for 2018 was Mellissa Brown from KwaZulu-Natal.
