King warns anti-foreigner violence is tarnishing KZN’s image
King Misuzulu has called for an end to violence against foreign nationals, urging residents to show compassion and uphold peace.
AS thousands of displaced immigrants continue to stream into the Durban Drive-In Site seeking safety and shelter, AmaZulu King Misuzulu kaZwelithini has amplified calls for peace in KwaZulu-Natal, condemning the ongoing violence and intimidation directed at foreign nationals.
The Zulu King was speaking at the 12th United Nations International Day of Yoga in Durban on Sunday when he called for an end to the violence while reminding the people of KZN and the rest of South Africa that “the world is watching”.
“South Africans, we are not looking good to the rest of the continent. The way that us as Zulu people are treating and behaving towards foreign nationals is wrong.

“If you go to another African country right now and say that you are from KwaZulu-Natal and that you are Zulu, how do you think that they will look at you and what will happen to you?” asked Misuzulu.
The monarch, who has been vocal about illegal immigration, said that it remains a problem but that in dealing with it people must not be victimised.
“End the violence, nobody must be victimised. No blood must be spilt,” said Misuzulu. “As the people of KZN, you must not forget where you come from and how far we have come as a province.”
To South Africans he said, “No outsider is coming into the country to steal the food off your plate. Nobody can touch you in your own country. They are here in SA to look for greener pastures. They came out of desperation and to escape poverty. We all know how that feels.”
