Young mechanic killed in freak accident

A YOUNG Durban mechanic was killed in a tragic freak accident whilst working on a truck in Clare Estate Durban around 11.30am on Tuesday.

Garrith Jamieson, operations director at Rescue Care said both Rescue Care and EMRS paramedics arrived to find the man trapped under the truck. “The man had been working on the truck when the truck rolled backwards. The Durban Fire Department had to use hydraulic equipment to lift the truck up to free the man.

“Unfortunately due to the severe injuries he had sustained the man passed away before paramedics arrived and was declared deceased on the scene,” added Jamieson.

Sydenham SAPS will investigate the tragic incident.
