Deaf society hosts women’s event
Women gathered in solidarity at the KZN Deaf Association.
THE KZN Deaf Association held its annual and much anticipated Women’s Day event last week to thank its women volunteers and colleagues for their continued support.
Motivational talks and poetry recitals formed part of the morning’s programme. The talks encouraged Violence against women facilitators to work within communities and support victims of physical, emotional and verbal abuse.
The women were shown how to make flowers out of recycled items by the Sydenham Community Resource Centre, led by Mearl Apollos. These flowers will be planted in the KZN Deaf Association’s Garden of Hope in support of the fight against violence towards women.
