Victims of fraud to come forward
The police urge people scammed by a conman to report the crimes to the specific crimes unit.

KZN Provincial Specific Crimes Unit is making an urgent appeal to any victims who were allegedly defrauded by Khalid Motala, to report incidents to the police.
Victims can contact investigating officer, W/O Kgatatso Matsena on 082 458 5853 or on the Crime Stop number 08600 10111.
Motala was arrested on 27 January after the unit, which deals with government fraud and corruption cases, was investigating two counts of fraud and corruption against him.
He appeared in the Durban Magistrate’s Court on 28 January and the case was remanded until 4 March for further investigation. He was released on R10 000 bail.
It is alleged that the suspect advertised his vehicles on Gumtree for sale. Some of these vehicles were stolen and recovered. The victims bought these vehicles but did not get the necessary documents from the suspect. In some cases the suspect allegedly gave fraudulent documents to his buyers. Two cases of fraud and corruption have been opened at Sydenham Police Station.
