Berea police worked hard at bringing crime levels to a minimum with good arrests this past week.

Car thief caught in the act
Berea police were patrolling along Rapson Road on Saturday, 1 March when they noticed a man attempting to steal a parked car.
According to Lieutenant PN Naidoo, Communications Officer at Berea SAPS, the members stopped and arrested the 23-year-old suspect. “The suspect was detained at SAPS Berea for theft of a motor vehicle,” said Naidoo.
Robber arrested
Police were called to Essenwood Road in the early hours of Sunday morning, 2 March, after receiving a complaint of a business robbery in progress.
“When police arrived, the suspect was pointed out by the security guard and police arrested the 22-year-old suspect and detained him at SAPS Berea on charges of business robbery.
Firearm recovered
Two suspects wanted for armed robbery cases in Berea were arrested on Sunday, 2 March.
According to Lt PN Naidoo, the arrest came after police received information about the suspects whereabouts. “They were arrested in Tongaat and detained at Tongaat SAPS and appeared in Stanger Magistrates Court on Monday, 3 March.
A white Run X, which was used to commit the crime was impounded and a firearm was recovered.”
Naidoo added that the two will be re-arrested for the Berea cases.
Don’t file false reports
Lieutenant PN Naidoo issued a strict warning to the public to refrain from reporting false cases. “It has come to light to the Berea police that some reported cases are fals. The relevant offender will be charged accordingly. The public must take note that this is a serious offence and will not be dealt with lightly,” added Naidoo.
