
Remote jammers arrested
Members of the Berea police noticed two suspicious men in a white Jetta while patrolling in Morningside on Friday morning, 7 March.
“The members signalled for the men to stop but they sped off. Police gave chase but lost sight of the car and radioed it in at the station. At about 11.45pm Crime Prevention members spotted the vehicle and chased it to Cowey Road,” Berea police spokesman Lieutenant PN Naidoo said.
The police managed to stop the car and searched the two suspects and vehicle where they recovered two remote jammers two knives and cellphones. The two suspects aged 23 and 26 were arrested for being in possession of car breaking implements.
Stolen vehicle recovered
Sector managers at Berea SAPS went on the alert on Sunday after hearing of a stolen Toyota Corolla from Avondale Road circulated on the radio control.
“Whilst patrolling along Sixth Avenue, they spotted a match to the circulated vehicle and confirmed that it was the stolen vehicle. It was returned to the owner. No suspects was arrested.” added Naidoo.
